Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o on Tuesday led senior county officers to a consultative meeting with a team from the World Bank led by the Country Director for Eritrea, Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda Madam Diarietou Gaye.
The World Bank mission, was in the county to tour various projects funded by the agency and to engage the administration on possible future development activities.
Currently, the World Bank is actively engaged in various programs in the county including; transport , urban development, informal settlements, youth development and capacity building and health care.
During the event, Governor Nyong'o explained that the county was focused on the development of light rail system to reduce the pressure on the roads and create an ease in traffic.
The team toured some of the projects funded by the bank such as the Marine School, the Kisumu Boys and Mamboleo dual carriage way project.
Madam Gaye was accompanied by Mr. Josphat Sasia, the bank's Lead Transport Specialist, Mr. Andi Muwonge, the Senior Urban Specialist among other program heads.
The County Government was represented by the CECs of Roads, Water, Health and urban development among other senior members of the county government.
