Mr Atiang’ said the move to court to block the privatization process was uncalled for.

He said they will not allow politicians to interfere with the process of privatizing the state owned sugar millers.

“Privatization is not a political process and politicians should stop their constant interference in this process," he said.

He said as sugar cane farmers, they fully support the process of privatization of the sugar companies and are comfortable with it.

He said they will be moving to court to be enjoined as interested parties in the case.

High Court Judge Weldon Korir suspended the decision by the Privatization Commission to privatize Nzoia, South Nyanza, Chemelil, Muhoroni and Miwani Sugar Factories saying the stay order will be in force for 60 days.

Kisumu Senator Anyang’ Nyong’o and Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo had earlier challenged the privatization of the sugar companies in court saying there were weighty issues raised by stakeholders about the privatization process.

They said the Commission had violated the privatization Act in regard to holding of meetings and is thus illegally in office and had to be disbanded.
