Kisumu Senator Prof Anyang Nyong’o who is the chairman of the Senate Committee that was investigation the outspoken Senator's action said Sonko should apologise.

“In view of the evidence adduced, the Committee found the allegation of verbal assault made by Sonko against Kidero substantiated,” said the Public Accounts Committee chairman.

He added: "The committee recommended disciplinary action against Sonko by requiring him to apologise to the Senate at the Bar of the Senate.”

The Committee absolved Sonko of allegations he physically assaulted Kidero on June 15, despite confirming that there was a scuffle between them on the said date.

“The committee found there was indeed a scuffle between Kidero and Sonko but the allegation of physical assault was not substantiated,” said Nyong’o.

On the material date, Kidero and his officers were being questioned over 2013-14 spending.

However, drama began when Sonko sought to present documents he claimed showed that the governor had grabbed private property in the city and transferred them to himself and his wife.

Later, Kidero filed a complaint with Senate Speaker Ekwee Ethuro alleging that Sonko called him a murderer and a thief.
