The county leadership has criticised a political line-up in the region ahead of next year's general elections.
This comes just a day after Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga hinted on a lineup by Senator Anyang’ Nyong’o and Nyando MP Fred Outa.
On Friady, Deputy ODM Organising Secretary Rozah Buyu and Senate aspirant Ocholla Ogoda said those forming lineups are not confident of themselves.
“Leadership cannot be collective. Every individual has personal leadership ability and challenges. As an aspiring Senator am offering myself in an individual capacity. Those groupings are inconsequential and public will not be duped with them,” Ogoda said.
Ogoda contested for the Kisumu Senate seat in 2013 and is seeking a second stab at it next year while Buyu ran for Kisumu West Parliamentary seat.
Buyu is under pressure to face off with Rose Nyamunga for the position of women representative.
Nyamunga is speculated to be considering for a legislative position in Nyando constituency, a seat that was previously held by her husband Eric Nyamunga and currently Fred Outa.
On Wednesday, Ms Odinga faulted Nyong’o and Outa over their inconsiderate line-up for county seats.
She said such kind of line-ups will never live to experience the politics of the day.
She further reiterated that a good line up should bear gender balance and ought to focus on activities and development instead of being preoccupied with unnecessary organisations..
