Kisumu senetor Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o and Nyando MP Fred Outa have been accused of choosing ODM election board, believed to be in their favour.
A section of the Orange Democratic Movement leaders from Kisumu led by Kisumu governor Jack Ranguma discarded the county election board members saying they were compromised due to links with the two legislators.
In a statement Ranguma alongside Kisumu East MP Shakeel Shabbir and Muhoroni lawmaker Onyango Koyoo called for the disbandment of the board.
They alleged one of the board member was a known confidant, trusted friend, kinsman and advocate of Outa.
“Accordingly, Yogo’s ability to be an impartial referee is seriously compromised. Besides, Yogo has in the best be known to be a strong supporter and campaigner for Anyang’ Nyong’o and Outa,” read the statement, in part, Saturday.
Another member of the board Kennedy Ajwang’ who is also the ODM county chair was said to be a ‘great supporter’ of Nyong’o while board member Monica Akong’o was linked to Nyongo’s campaign machinery.
The leaders now want a new board with persons of integrity be put in place.
Nyong’o intends to vie for the Kisumu gubernatorial seat while Outa intends to run for county’s senatorial seat.
