ODM's elections tribunal committee has nullified the nomination certificates for the Kisumu gubernatorial race given to Governor Jack Ranguma and Senator Anyang' Nyong'o.

The two were both declared winners following hotly contested ODM primaries on Tuesday.

Nyong'o was first declared winner at Thurdibuoro Secondary School in Nyakach constituency by the county returning officer Tom Okong’o after he got 164,110 votes ahead of Ranguma’s 91,480.

However, Ranguma was later declared winner at Aga Khan Hall in Kisumu town by deputy returning officer Richard Kiyondi who said the governor had garnered 118, 934 votes ahead of the senator who had 32,028 votes.

Things got marred when each of the duo claimed to have been handed the provisional nomination certificates.

Arguing their separate cases before the tribunal, lawyers representing the duo said their clients were duly elected.

However, tribunal committee chairperson Willis Otieno on Friday said that ODM National Executive Committee will be the one to make the final decision after weighing each side of the case.
