[Photo/KCGPU]Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang Nyong'o has dismissed social media reports that he declined to donate Sh100,000 towards the funeral of late Nyeri Governor Gakuru Wahome. The reports went viral on Facebook with some users claiming Nyong'o told off Council of Governors chairman Josphat Nanok that he would not donate since governors have insurance cover. In a communication on Friday, Nyong'o termed the reports saying they were being peddled agents hell-bent on heightening political temperatures."Fake news being peddled by agents hell-bent on heightening the already poisoned political environment in Kenya must not to be allowed to intrude into the solemn mourning by the family of the late Governor and the people of Nyeri and Kenya at large," Nyong'o said.He added that Gakuru's death was not just a loss to the people of Nyeri but to the whole Country and all the devolved units. He further joined all the people of goodwill in condoling with the family at this very trying moment."May the Almighty God provide the strength to bear this great loss. Rest in peace Governor (Dr.) Gakuru Wahome," Nyong'o said in a communication.
