After assuming the Kisumu Governor seat Anyang Nyong'o sent several chief officers and county executive committee members on leave.According to the governor, the 14 chief officers and nine county executive committee members on leave have been sent on compulsory leave in an attempt repair the government.
As the transition from the previous administration continues applications for the respective positions are are currently being taken.
According the the new county chief their contract ended with the previous governor after his term ended.
He also stated that the officers would be held accountable for any financial irregularities in their dockets.
"The move is not aimed at punishing someone but purely administrative work meant to ensure the transition is done smoothly within the county," Nyong'o said as reported by The Star.
Despite warnings to governors against firing officials who did not support them in their campaigns Nyong'o has opted to replace County Secretary Lusi Ojwang with new County Secretary Olang'o Onudi.
