Nyong'o said the police used excessive force while dealing with the opposition demonstrators agitating for the disbandment of the IEBC.

"Following the brutal killing of peaceful demonstrators in Kisumu and Siaya yesterday (Monday), the Inspector General of Police Mr Joseph Boinnet must, with immediate effect, apprehend the officers involved and arraign them in court for due process of law to take its cause," he said in a statement to newsrooms.

"As Senator for Kisumu, I am ashamed of the attitude of law enforcement agencies in Kisumu. Their action reveals ethnic profiling of the Luo nation which has taken root among Jubilee potentates. This must stop."

During Monday's anti-IEBC  protests in Kisumu and Siaya, three people were shot dead.

The opposition accused police officers deployed to quell the protests of shooting and killing the three.

Protesters engaged in running battles with the police who cordoned off the IEBC offices to ensure no protesters entered the electoral body's offices.

Monday May 23 protests were the fourth since Cord leader Raila Odinga called for demonstrations to demand for IEBC's disbandment.

"It goes without saying that no amount of intimidation will stop Cord and the people of Kenya from taking the current IEBC home and putting in place a sound constitutional framework for democratic elections in Kenya," Nyong'o said.

All the protests so far conducted across the country have been marred with violence as police used teargas and water canons to disperse opposition supporters.

Raila and other Cord Co-Principals Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula and the civil society have accused the police of being too brutal to protesters.

Cord will hold a major anti-IEBC demonstration in Nairobi on Madaraka Day.
