[Photo|Eddy Illah]Kisumu Governor Prof Anyang' Nyong'o alongside his wife, Dorothy, paid tribute to the late Christabel Ouko, wife to the late former Foreign Affiars Cabinet Minister Robert Ouko, saying she lived a great life of service to her family and the nation.Flanked by his Deputy Dr Ochieng Owili, Nyong'o joined family, relatives, friends and several other mourners for the funeral service of the late 75-year-old at her Koru home, Muhoroni sub-county.He described Mama Christabel as a wonderful, generous and fastidious woman who lived her life well, leaving an enduring legacy in education that should be emulate to uplift the needy children in the society.“We stand in solidarity with you during this trying and difficult time of mourning. Our thoughts and prayers will always be with you," Nyong'o told the bereaved family members.Nyong'o revealed that Mama Christabel, was a classmate to his sisters, Mary Nyong'o at Ngiya Primary School and Susan Muthune at Alliance Girls.
The funeral service was conducted by Bishop Tom Sidede of African Inland Church, during the event that saw Foreign Affiars Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed, Jubilee Party Secretary Raphael Tuju, immediate Kitui Senator David Musila, in attendance.Christabel died on Monday August 21, in a road accident near Muhoroni-Kericho-Kisumu junction at around 2.30pm.She was leaving Kisumu, after attending Nyong'o's swearing-in ceremony, at the Kenyatta Sports Ground, in company of her son, who lost control of the vehicle near Rai Cement Factory next to the Muhoroni junction in Sigowet-Soin Constituency, Kericho county.Christabel, died at Siolam Hospital in Kericho, where she had been rushed for treatment. The son sustained minor injuries.
