The senator, who hails from Seme Sub-County and has served both as a Member of Parliament (MP) and a Cabinet Minister in various ministries is perceived as the best person to be Kisumu's Governor.

Speaking to this writer on Tuesday, Kisumu Youth Forum chairman Brian Jobita said that the county is ranked among the poorest performing county in terms of development country wide.

Jobita said that the governor Jack Ranguma’s administration has failed and it is time to change the leadership and allow those viewed as ‘politically experienced’ to take up the mantle.

He said that the senator’s experience in leadership was unquestionable as he had served in various leadership capacities in the nation.

His sentiments were echoed by Manyatta Youth Bunge chairman Benson Onoka who said that the next governor must come from other sub-counties to allow for rotational governorship.

Onoka said that among the expected aspirants, Nyong’o was the best placed.
