The youth had pitched camp outside the premise after they got wind that the governor had plans of visiting the place and they demanded to be addressed by him.

Governor Nyong’o on Tuesday assured the youth that his administration will ensure that those who merited getting jobs at the facilities got them adding that the facility will create more jobs.

“It will also create avenues for more business in County and hence will reduce on joblessness,”Nyong’o stated.

Andrew Cowen, the EABL Managing Director (MD) stated that the facility was set to benefit the people of Kisumu disclosing that 15,000 farmers have already be contracted to supply the firm with sorghum which is used in brewing of Senator Keg.

He noted that 4,000 new bars were set to be opened in the region and that hundreds of drivers will be employed who will be charged with transporting the beer from the factory to respective areas.

“Kisumu has a big employee base and we are keen to ensure we tap into it for the benefit of the people,” said the MD.

Last year, the youth staged demonstrations complaining that the company contracted to upgrade the facility denied them casual jobs whilst it gave them to other people who were not residents of Kisumu.
