A campaign model crafted by Kisumu County boss Anyang’ Nyong’o will be implemented this week in counties believed to be opposition leader Raila Odinga’s stronghold.
Once full in operation, the strategy will see ten governors from former Western and Nyanza provinces lead uniform campaigns to ease pressure on Odinga.
According to Nyong’o, the model may be eventually adopted in regions believed to be swing and coastal region with its aim being pushing for high voter turnout.
“We have put everything down and we shall start campaigning together as Western bloc. We have put committees in place that would see serious campaigns,” said Jones Omwenga, NASA campaign coordinator.
He added:”the campaign is quite structured such that we have representatives from every level. These people are entrusted to campaign on our behalf,” he said, adding that the team has mobilized for resources.
Already, volunteers have given campaign materials including trucks and small vehicles which will be used to do uninterrupted one month’s campaign.
The team of ten governors will hold their first rally in Kisii and Nyamira Counties this week before traversing to entire region.
Governors from Kisii, Nyamira, Migori, Homabay, Kisumu, Siaya, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, Kakamega and Vihiga will be overall campaign that targets over 4 million votes.
