The members of press expressed concern that the communication team only informed them of events graced by the governor and top county officials after they had happened.

The journalists have also stated that when informed of such events, the communication came in late, a factor which compelled most of them to miss out from important functions.

It also came to the fore that after the events, the County Communication Team wrote the stories and then posted them on a shared Whatsapp group expecting other members of the press to develop news articles from them.

On Tuesday, the journalists claimed the Governor was no longer interested in the members of the press as it emerged that they were not allowed to cover a session when Nyong’o visited the East African Breweries Limited (EABL) firm in Kisumu.

In response, the governor's communication team stated that the Tuesday’s unfolding was unfortunate and that the firm had a tight security protocol before anyone was allowed inside the premise.

The team also stated that it was a requirement that all persons admitted inside to wear protective gears which the journalist did not have.

“We informed them of the presence of the media team and they were aware , but they insisted on knowing the number and the names to facilitate the protective clothing. I could only remember five names whom four could not be found at the gate when sought,” stated a member of the team while apologizing for the inconvenience.
