Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o's dress code during the Labour Day celebrations on Tuesday has elicited mixed reaction from locals.
The governor was dressed in a casual wear which quickly attracted a debate.
Many expected him to dress in an ‘expensive’ suit as his counterparts do in major government functions.
Here are some of the reactions from the locals:
“That is our Governor in a casual wear. I think someone should address this issue of our Governor always doing casuals even in very important government functions,” noted Wesley Ondiek.
“I tend to think even investors will have a problem ‘trusting’ the governor. I don’t think a suit is too expensive for the governor. At least he should have two or three of them for important functions if suits are not his thing,” stated Geoffrey Ombadi.
“There is no problem with being simple. The Governor is simple and neat. He doesn’t have to put on expensive suits yet he can still deliver his duties as expected. That is what is important. Staying simple,” noted Nahashon Odour.
“It is his normal wear in and out of the year. That man is allergic to suits. I would not be surprised if he came with something worse. Lol,” said Mercy Mwangi.
“Matching between those askaris and workers in that dress code is not so appealing. Compare it with him in a suit. It would be amazing,” noted Vincent Obare.
"As a government servant you should dress appropriately and avoid casual at all cost," said Jane Mary.
