Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o on Wednesday announced that every village in the county will soon have access to clean water.

Speaking during a meeting with the members of the Katolo community, Nyong'o noted that clean water is essential for a good health system.

 The Governor said the County Government has commenced digging of boreholes across the county to ensure that the people of Kisumu have access to clean and safe water. 

The Katolo community had called on the Governor to discuss issues on area of water, health, education, infrastructure and unemployment. 

Accompanied by the Deputy Governor Dr. Mathew Owili and Chief of Staff Patrick Ouya, the Governor assured the group that his government will start village polytechnics to help in the training of youths who have not met university entry points and school dropouts. 

He said the county government will get qualified teachers from Kisumu Polytechnic to teach at the polytechnics.

 On health, the Governor said for universal health care to work in Kisumu County, every person must have an NHIF card adding that his government will pay for 300,000 people who are not able to pay. 

Addressing issues of employment, Dr Owili told the group that everyone will have equal opportunity to work with the county once the Public Service Board is constituted. 

The Chief of Staff Patrick Ouya who confirmed the water problem experienced in Katolo assured the group that very soon the matter will be a thing of the past.
