Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o on Wednesday evening toured major beaches in the city.

The governor and his teamed visited Dunga beach, Lwang'ni beach and Hippo Point where they interacted with the locals and inspected encroached parcels of land around the area.

Speaking during the visit, Nyong'o warned those who had encroached land near the beaches to return the land adding that the his administration was keen on getting back the grabbed areas and will take action to all offenders.

"These wetlands are vital as they are the grazing areas to the hippos. Encroachment to these areas interferes with the animals life. All those who have encroached the riparian areas should take caution. The county government is determined to reclaim these parcels back," he said

 At Lwang'ni beach,the governor and his team noted massive water pollution by those washing vehicles along the lake.

He said that this habit must stop and those washing vehicles along the lake will be looked for an alternative place to wash the cars.
