Kiambu Deputy Governor on Tuesday applauded steps taken by the national government to improve health care in the country.
Nyoro said that the government is not only making healthcare affordable to Kenyans but also making sure that people get treated in available local hospitals everywhere in the country.
During an NHIF registration campaign launch in Kiambu Town , Nyoro urged Kiambu residents to apply for NHIF scheme which plays a big role in clearing of hospital bills.
“My urge to each and every Kiambu resident is to apply for NHIF cover because it is affordable. We want to drop the trend of holding fundraisers to pay hospital bills,” said the Nyoro.
He promised to do his best helped to see mothers and children covered by NHIF in the whole of Kiambu to reduce burden on young mothers when their children get sick.
Nyoro said that the county government is able to provide medicine and other health equipment that will ensure people are treated locally at a low cost.
"Some of the diseases that we go to seek treatment for in India can be treated in our private and local hospitals like Kenyatta at a lower cost using an NHIF cover," noted Nyoro.
