President Uhuru has affirmed his support for the National Youth Service saying that as long as he remains the president, he we will invest in the youth.

Speaking on Thursday when he presided over the passing out parade of the National Youth Service recruits in Gilgil Training College, Uhuru said that his government will not quit on an initiative that is changing the fortunes of so many Kenyan youth.

"In the last year, clouds have loomed over the Service and the nation's youth. Yet today I looked out at bright young people and I am encouraged," he said.

He added:"I join the graduands, leaders, parents and overseers today in honouring them for their sterling service to our Nation. I have no doubt that the youth of this country are our hope."

In his speech, the country boss asked the recruits to foster unity and understanding among various communities.
