The introduction of the Nyumba Kumi security initiative is bearing fruits in Lari Sub County, area policing Chairman Peter Kiugi has said.
The officer told reporters at his office on Monday that cases of crime have gone down thanks to adoption of Nyumba Kumi by locals.
He observed that locals embraced the initiative which has seen crime rates reduce significantly in the last three months.
“We are happy to announce that crime rates have gone down in Lari Sub County thanks to Nyumba Kumi,” he noted.
Kiugi also said that various strategies had been implemented as directed by the national and county governments in regards to crime and insecurity.
The official further stated that locals have been supportive in ensuring that peace exists.
Kiugi noted that they are collaborating with security officials adding that their unity will further make the area safer.
He urged locals to feel free and work with the police as they strive to maintain law and order.
Kiugu noted that good relations between the public and the police will assure a safer environment for residents and investors to conduct their businesses.
