Pipeline Estate nyumba kumi chairman Nderitu Ndegwa said that they will help the police to bring to an end the habit which he said puts the whole pipeline community at risk.

Speaking at Pipeline Estate during a fund raiser in aid of people who were injured in last week’s fire incident, Ndegwa said that as a community they are tired of holding fundraisers in aid of fire victims every year and added that it was time to bring the illegal fuel trade in the area to an end.

He said that as a community they have had enough and they will not tolerate any more fuel siphoning.

“The fires which occur here are mainly caused by oil spills from tankers and the oil spills when people go to siphon fuel from tankers and as the nyumba kumi committee we have decided that we will this thing must stop. We will not sit back and watch as people put the lives of other people at risk,” said Ndegwa.

Ndegwa said they will form a secret team which will be working day and night to identify and arrest those behind the fuel siphoning business in Pipeline.

On Friday four people were seriously burned after a fire broke out as they were siphoning fuel from a tanker which was parked in the area.

Two of them are currently still admitted at the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital with severe burns.
