Kiamaina ‘Nyumba Kumi’ Chairman David Mwangi has urged Kiamaina residents to play a pro-active role in security and reveal criminals who work in cahoots with residents to terrorise residents.
“Every body must know his neighbour in and out for the purpose of enhancing security,” said Mwangi.
Speaking on Thursday at Kiamaina shopping centre, Bahati constituency during a security meeting, Mwangi said that the security is everyone’s responsibility.
“Every one has a role to play in securing security in our area,” said Mwangi, adding that residents’ effort will supplement the government's effort in providing stability.
He said that with introduction of Nyumba Kumi initiative, the level of crime has dropped in the area.
“We are now witnessing fewer cases of crimes with the introduction of Nyumba Kumi,” added Mwangi.
He urged residents to work hand in hard with security agencies in the area to improve the capacity of security.
Mwangi also said that community-policing has been working well and urged the residents to continue cooperating with the police force to maintain security.
“The coordination between the residents and the police in dealing with insecurity and crimes has worked well,” said Mwangi.
He assured the residents that security has been beefed up during this festive season and urged them not to worry.
The meeting was called to asses the level of security matters in the sprawling Kiamaina slum.
