Speaking in Matuu town Secretary of chamber of commerce for Matuu market Patrick Nzioka said that many vehicles mostly those transporting miraa are driven at a high speed. 

Nzioka said that many accidents happening along that road could be avoided if the police, more so traffic police are serious with their jobs. 

Nzioka was speaking after a six-year-old boy died on the spot after being knocked down by a vehicle ferrying miraa that was at a high speed.

Nzioka noted that in spite of the residents pleading with Kenya National highway authority to ensure the road has bumps mostly at Matuu, their cries have fallen on deaf years. 

He urged drivers to be vigilant on the road to reduce accidents. 

"If you can't drive with the required speed then get recruited for safari rally since we won't sit and watch as more lives are lost on the road due to reckless drivers," fumed Nzioka. 

The body of the boy was taken to Matuu median as police search for the driver of the vehicle which fled off after the accident. 

This accident comes a day after a middle-aged man was knocked down by a Miraa ferrying vehicle where he died on the spot.
