In-form Nzoia Sugar FC striker Elvis Rupia was on Tuesday crowned as the best performing Sportpesa Premier League player for the month of April.
The speedy goal poacher who previously turned out for National Super League side Nakuru All Stars shrugged off stiff competition from Zoo Kericho's Nicholas Kipkurui and Michael Madoya to bag the coveted award that saw him walk away with a customized trophy, Sh100,000 as well as a 49 inch LG TV set.
Rupia garnered 19 votes against Kipkurui's 17 while Madoya, who is the reigning KPL Most Valuable Player (MVP), emerged third with 15 votes in the voting that was conducted by Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK).
Speaking shortly after receiving the awards, Rupia who is leading the race for this season's golden boot awards downplayed speculations that has since linked him with a number of the country's big soccer names owing to his form.
"I do not want to break the momentum I've gained here. I, therefore, want to stay here even though there are exciting offers. I know what I and I have a plan which I intend to stick to," he said.
Among the clubs that have since expressed interests in the 24-year-old's signature include league champions Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards and Tusker.
