Machakos County governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has invited the US President Barack Obama to the county when he visits Kenya in July this year as expected.
Speaking in Athi River town on Friday, Governor Dr. Mutua commended the US government for its continual support to Kenya over the years through its Embassy.
Dr. Mutua disclosed that there were several projects within the county which are being implemented by the Embassy citing USAID programmes which he said support projects such as Health, Agriculture and Education in the region.
He appealed to other governments all over the world, particularly African Nations including Kenya itself to adopt stands taken by the US government to expand democratic space to eradicate poverty and improve livelihoods of their citizens.
"If the public do not trust their government, then all is lost. Therefore, Kenyan government should do all at its discretion to win citizens' trust," said Dr. Mutua.
He claimed that in Machakos they do not frustrate, but support businesses hence need to promote more partnerships with both local and international states.
Dr. Mutua called on the US Ambassador Robert Godeck to invite President Obama to Machakos County when he visits Kenya in July this year.
He argued that the visit would create direct tie between the county and US government and in return give the two opportunity to engage in corperate partnerships for interests of their residents at large.
