Former American President Barrack Obama has tweeted from his original handle, eight years after he temporarily stopped using it.
Obama, the 44th president of America, handed over to his successor Donald trump on Friday in a ceremony that was witnessed by millions of people around the world.
in the last eight years, the Kenyan-American president has been using official twitter handle @POTUS, which has since been taken by Trump.
He tweeted: "Hi everybody! Back to the original handle. Is it still on? Michelle and I are off to a quick vocation but they will get back to work."
"In the meantime, I want to hear what you are thinking about the road ahead. So share yiur ideas with me here," he added.
The former Illinois senator addressed his former workers at Maryland moments after Trump's inauguration before flying to his Chicago home.
Though he did not tour his father's ancestral home when he visited Kenya in 2015, he promised to be back when he becomes a private citizen.
The twitter handle originally with 3 million followers, attracted over 13 million people in less than 3hrs.
