Bodaboda operators operating along Nyakegogi shopping centre-Itumbe market rural road, Giasaiga sub-location in Sameta sub-county have been urged to observe traffic rules while approaching schools, to avert accidents involving school children.
Parents who spoke to this writer at Nyakegogi shopping centre expressed concern over careless operators along that route, endangering lives of young school children from the local schools of Sunrise Junior Academy and Kenyoro D.O.K Primary schools.
Kebengi Makori, one of the parents in the schools, challenged motorcyclists along that route to mind about the safety of young children immediately they approach the institutions.
“As a parent, I am concerned with the speed at which motorcyclists ride along this route, threatening lives of young school children from the local schools who do not understand anything pertaining traffic rules on the roads,” stated Makori.
Mary Buyaki, another parent of Sunrise Academy also echoed similar sentiments, calling on all parties involved to play their roles.
Cases of accidents involving school children in the area have been on the increase, with majority of the cases involving motorcyclists.
