Motorists and Boda boda operators in Yatta Sub County have been urged to cooperate with police officers and obey traffic rules during this festive season.
The area police boss, Edward Kipsang, urged the boda boda operators in the region to keep to the ethics of their trade to avoid unnecessary road accidents.
He added that during the past years, accidents have been increasing during the festive seasons due to careless driving and failure to observe traffic rules.
“Motorists who will be caught driving while drunk will be arrested. We are warning those who will also be found to be engaged in careless driving,” he said.
He said that the boda boda operators should close their businesses early to enable the police to patrol the area during the night.
“Many criminal incidents in the area are reported during the festive seasons and the police are this time round determined to ensure there is tranquillity in the region during this season,” he said.
Kipsang further warned the boda boda operators to avoid carrying passengers in excess.
