The MP also wants the Cabinet secretary to explain the ranking of schools in the country.

Obura said that there were several irregularities with students who had more than 400 marks and who ended up in what he termed as ‘small’ schools.

The MP was speaking during the issuing of bursary funds at the Kisumu Social Hall where he gave out cheques of at least Sh 10 million for high schools within his constituency.

"I am giving notice to fill for motion in Parliament at least 20 per cent of slots in National school section should be made available for local schools," he said.

He lamented that only 12 girls out of 300 with over 400 marks made it to Kisumu Girls High School which is national school.

Obura said that school ranking should be restored since it motivates students to excel in their academics.

He also strongly warned those grabbing school land adding he will take action against them.
