Senator Chris Obure of Kisii County has termed social media reports that he had been attacked by rowdy perceived ODM youths in his Ogembo home as ‘primitive and uncalled for’.

On Saturday, Obure was ridiculed on Kisii County Alliance Whatsapp group and a number of Facebook pages of allegedly getting a ‘beating’ by youths who were reportedly unhappy with his warm relationship to Jubilee government.

And in a phone call on Sunday, Obure dismissed the claims as rumors and accused his political ‘detractors’ of spreading the gossip to taint his reputation.

“There are some youths spreading primitive information that I was attacked by ODM youths in my rural home on Saturday. The information is uncalled for and should be ignored by all Kenyans,” he said.

The angry Senator added: “it’s my political detractors trying to pull me back using gossip and that cannot work in this era. I have a good rapport with all youths in my county regardless of their political affiliations.”

Obure urged youths to shun leaders dividing them based on politics and challenged them to look for social-economic help to uplift their living standards.

”Time has come for youths to shun politicians funding them to misuse social media. There are better economic things they can do rather than engaging in such kind of primitive politics. It’s for their own good to avoid politicians misusing them,” he said.
