Kisii Senator Chris Obure has denied social media claims that he hosted officials believed to be presiding officers of Nyacheki by-elections at Omonyenya Hotel in Mogonga Township.
Mr Obure ditched ODM recently and is eyeing Kisii Gubernatorial seat.
On Tuesday, the veteran politician insisted that the by-elections will be determined by the people of Nyacheki labeling the social media claims as ‘uncalled for’.
"It’s really disappointing that some youths claim that I hosted IEBC officials. I am not an interested party in the by-election and I would have no reason at all to manipulate anything,” he said.
“The claims are uncalled for because it’s the people of Nyacheki who will make a decision on who to elect as their MCA. The ODM team should stop panicking because each team has done its part so let’s wait for the outcome,” he said.
The by-election has turned out to be a contest between Jubilee Party and ODM with Raila Odinga making several stopovers in the region on Monday slightly 12 hrs after the DP William Ruto visited the region.
