Social media users accused the Senator of receiving a bribery estimated 300M alongside other legislators to hold a meeting at Otamba that was dubbed Otamba Declaration in which they announced to have the community united, a few days before DP William Ruto visited the region.

And on Wednesday in a phone conversation, Obure termed the claims ‘malicious and bigoted’ insisting that he has never gone to the State House to meet the country’s top leadership.

“I have never received such a sum of money and I cannot receive it because the consciousness of people cannot be bought. It’s unfortunate that people can propel malicious and bigoted information about me,” said the ODM Kisii County chair.

“I don’t know State House recently because I haven’t visited it. I believe that the Otamba declaration was long overdue because we have to unite as Omogusii to increase our bargaining power in subsequent governments whether in Cord or Jubilee,” he added.

He urged members of Gusii community to shun ‘petty’ differences and join hands in making the unity real.

“We must shun our petty differences and forge the unity. When people come together for the sake of unity it doesn’t mean that you receive a bribe. We are one people and the unity is unshakable,” he said.
