Senator Chris Obure has dismissed chaos which marred President Uhuru Kenyatta’ Kisii tour on Wednesday adding that the presidential itinerary was a ‘success’.
Despite the president addressing rallies in different parts of the vast Gusii region, he however endured torrid moments when a section of rowdy youths periodically interrupted speeches of some local leaders.
Moments after leaving Gusii stadium on Wednesday, President Kenyatta’s tour was criticized by hundreds of ODM supporters who took to the streets of Kisii to question his track record.
And Obure, who has since joined Kisii governorship race, accused the demonstrators as ‘idlers’ with nothing substantial to tell Kenyans.
“His tour was a success and we all saw the turnout of people. It was simply historical for Jubilee,” said Obure adding that Jubilee Party will beat their opponents in Kisii on August.
The former ODM Kisii Chairman further said: “We are aware of some few idlers who misbehaved after the president left but that were their right.”
Businesses came into a standstill in Kisii town with rioters seizing the opportunity to condemn Jubilee government for reportedly launching ‘petty’ projects in the region.
Noticeably, Gusii region which is predominantly opposition territory, had most of its leaders skipping Uhuru’s trip.
