Chris Obure says Jubilee Party will get overwhelming support from Gusii region despite dominance by the opposition in the area.
President Uhuru Kenyatta trailed opposition leader Raila Odinga in final tally of both Nyamira and Kisii counties.
And Obure, formally of ODM, said Gusii community will back Kenyatta’s re-election due to his development record in the region.
“Jubilee government has initiated a host of infrastructural projects in Gusii and we do not have a single reason to reject Kenyatta,” said Obure, who is also eyeing Kisii governorship.
The veteran politician added: “We shall move from village to village to ensure that we are in government. Time has come for us to play in mainstream politics.”
Even though Jubilee is yet to name its gubernatorial candidate, Obure is in pole position to win nominations.
