Kisii Senator Mr Chris Obure on Tuesday said his desire to be governor had been born out of the need to improve governance in the regional government.
He took Governor James Ongwae to task over spiraling graft and the list of unmet development promises.
"Wherever we are traversing, people are crying out over some unmet development promise and this does not auger well for our people,” he told Hivisasa by phone.
He further defended his move to defect to Jubilee from the Orange Democratic Movement party saying the community will continue lagging behind if they cling with opposition.
"We have all along supported it but we have reaped whirlwind in return," said the former Bobasi MP.
He urged the electorate to solidly rally behind the Jubilee Party and vote for it in the August polls.
Mr Obure said the government was still committed to address issues touching development especially on infrastructure.
The Orange Democratic Movement party, ODM, currently enjoys higher popularity rating in the region but the Jubilee leaders said they will upset the opposition gains in due time.
