Kisii Senator Chris Obure who has broken ranks with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party and switched his allegiance to the ruling Jubilee Party has said that his decision to ditch the Raila-led party was informed by the humiliation he was subjected to in the party.
"I don't find the reason why I should continue being in ODM after all the humiliation. At least they should have been open and told me that my services are no longer needed by the party," he said.
Obure's troubles with the Orange party started when he led a delegation of Kisii politicians to State House last year. However, the visit was seen as political and his loyalty to the party was brought into scrutiny.
According to the veteran politician, he was kicked out of the party immediately after leaving State House even as he accused his critics of misinterpreting their meeting with President Kenyatta.
The Senator who has since declared his intention to oust the incumbent Kisii Governor James Ongwae who is an ODM point man in the region on a Jubilee Party ticket come August polls said that it was necessary for him to find a new 'home' to springboard his ambition to clinch the county's top seat.
The Senator's allegiance to the Uhuru Kenyatta-led Jubilee Party played out in the Senate last week during the voting of the controversial Election Law where he instructed nominated Senator Hoseah Ochwangi to vote in favor of Jubilee-allied Senators.
