Kisii Governor James Ongwae has named area Senator Chris Obure as his main challenger ahead of the August gubernatorial showdown in the county.

Speaking on Friday at Nyaburumabsi in Bomachoge Chache constituency, the Governor dismissed  the other opponents saying they pose no threat to his reelection bid.

"I only recognize Senator Chris Obure as my main challenger in the coming polls. Other opponents are of no threat to me," he said.

The Governor who shared the same podium with his deputy-cum rival Joash Maangi used the occasion to assure all ODM aspirants that the process will be free and fair even as he appealed to losers to support the winners to strengthen the party.

Having lost his deputy to Jubilee, Ongwae said that he is still shopping for a running mate whom he pledged to unveil soon.

Ongwae who also doubles up as the ODM Secretary General in the county pitched for Raila Odinga's Presidency and asked the residents to support NASA coalition in the coming poll.
