Kisii Senator Chris Obure and Deputy Governor Joash Maangi are misleading the Abagusii community, observes Kisii County assembly majority whip Henry Moracha.
The two on Tuesday held a closed-door meeting with a host of legislators on what Maangi termed as ‘deliberating on Omogusii unity’ in his official Facebook account.
But Mr Moracha is now accusing the two of ‘sabotage’ to the development and has challenged area residents to avoid them.
“I want to caution the entire Abagusii community against listening to Obure and Maangi. They are out to mislead our community in the name of discussing our unity. They should be avoided because we know them as people who are out to sabotage development,” he said.
“We all know that the two are scheming to run against Governor James Ongwae and their attempts to hide in the name of Abagusii unity should be dismissed at all costs,” he said.
Mr Moracha also questioned the reason why all Nyamira MPs and a section of elected leaders from Kisii County were not invited to the meeting.
“The reason why I suspect that these people are out to joke with our minds is that no single MP from Nyamira attended the so-called unity meeting and also many of us from Kisii County were sidelined. They are just but out to satisfy their interests and I maintain that they are misleading us,” he said.
However, Senator Obure in a telephone conversation with the reporter has defended his colleagues saying the meeting was preliminary and could not accommodate everyone.
“I know the concern but it’s important to note that we cannot attend a preliminary meeting all of us. The Omogusii unity is unstoppable and we will soon invite all leaders on board once we put all logistics in place,” he said.
