A physical fight broke out on Monday between supporters of Kisii senator Chris Obure and Governor James Ongwae with either side accusing each other of insincerity.

Obure, formerly in ODM, has since expressed his interest in gubernatorial seat and will be competing on a Jubilee Party ticket.

Trouble began when Obure led hundreds of his supporters to the county headquarters demanding that the Governor account for billions that were disbursed in the last four years.

But in retaliation, Ongwae supporters mainly Boda Boda riders repulsed Obure’s group accusing them on witch-hunt and insecurity.

“He has been senator and it is funny that he has not realized the mismanagement but only to note it when he wants to be governor,” said Masene Machuna, who heads communication department.

Despite the resistance from the county government, Obure vowed to bring all corrupt individuals into book once he becomes governor.

“They can do cover-ups the way the want but we shall finally catch up with them. All money sent in the past years must be accounted for,” he told the press.
