According to Kisii County Senator Chris Obure, such leaders should be rejected by voters and should not be reelected in next year's polls.

"It is wrong for leaders not to fulfill the pledges they made to residents ahead of 2013 elections. Such leaders should be given a red card come August 2017," said Obure.

Speaking during a funds drive in Nyaribari Chache constituency on Sunday, Obure accused Kisii county government leadership of funding 'ghost' projects using public funds.

"Some projects in the Auditor General Edward Ouko’s report were not on the ground. I am not satisfied in the way the funds are being utilised by the county government," said Obure.

He added: "I expect the funds to be used for genuine projects that can be accounted for, projects that benefit Kisii residents."
