Jubilee presidential campaign in Gusii has yet again suffered a major blow after stare house reportedly declined to approve a budget proposal by Kisii governorship hopeful Chris Obure.
The report comes moments after an insider reveled that President Uhuru Kenyatta had summoned Education CS Fred Matiang’i on allegations that he is working with political brokers.
Understandably, Matiang’i, who has been Uhuru’s point man from the vote rich region, has since cut links with a host of politicians from Kisii.
An a source privy to presidential campaigns reveals that a budget of Sh200 million was declined by Presidential campaign secretariat on grounds that Obure failed to convince them.
“There is a serious crisis and Obure’s proposal was declined. It seems Kenyatta does not trust the politicians and that is why he is banking on Matiang’i,” said the source.
“This means politicians could be completely locked out in favour of technocrats,” added the source.
Initially, Kisii deputy governor Joash Maangi who has since joined his sponsor party ODM was the head of presidential campaigns on political wing.
Wrangles between him and a host of politicians among them Charles Nyachae and Chris Obure led to Maangi’s unprecedented departure.
However, the writer cannot independently verify the claims since Obure’s phone went unanswered until the time of going to press.
