NASA leader Raila Odinga's elder brother Oburu Oginga has defended his election to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) and dismissed allegations that he took the slot earlier set aside for Norman Magaya.

Oburu said that there was no way he could have taken Magaya's slot the latter was in ANC while he (Oburu) was in ODM even though both were in NASA.

"Each party was given a chance to nominate its preferred candidates to EALA and ODM had two, ANC had three, Wiper three and so on. So any claims that I took Magaya's slot is foolhardy," Oburu as reported by the Star.

While speaking in Siaya, he warned that those spreading such talk were only aiming at splitting the opposition NASA by creating the impression that affiliate parties were being sidelined.

He said that Magaya had the blessing of everyone in NASA except the Jubilee members who are now 'planting the seed of disquiet' within the opposition.

"Its unfortunate that there was some prejudice against Magaya by Jubilee legislatures who are now claiming that I took his slot," Oburu said.

"We are aware that Jubilee is also electing ODM members unopposed to head house committees and again turn back to incite affiliate parties in Nasa against ODM for taking giant share," revealed Oburu.

"I know they are geared to split Nasa through the divide and rule scheme, but we are advising them to revisit their strategy as that will not work," said Oburu.
