Nominated MP Oburu Oginga has revealed that his younger brother and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga shaped him politically.
Oburu was first elected to parliament in 1994 through a by election following the demise of his father and Kenya’s first Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.
The former Assistant Minister made the shocking revelations on Sunday during the burial of Peris Kegoro, mother to Human Rights lawyer George Kegoro.
“Many of you think that Jaramogi shaped my political career but that is never the case. I was never interested in joining politics and my dream was to remain in the business industry,” Oburu said.
“However, when my father died, Raila inspired me to join politics because he was already in the game. He has nurtured me all throw and I thank him for that,” he added.
Raila was first elected to parliament as representative for Lang’ata in 1992 after the opposition successfully repealed Section 2A of the constitution that had legally made Kenya a single party state.
