Cord leader Raila Odinga has received a boost in his quest to become Kenya's president after Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda and nominated MP Oburu Odinga agreed to bury their political differences and back the former prime minister.
According to Oburu, Raila needs the support of Bondo residents to make his dream come true.
Oburu pointed out that his political differences with Ochanda and other leaders from Luo Nyanza is likely to cost the Cord leader the desire to clinch the nation’s top seat during August elections.
“The big contest is for the presidential seat that has remained elusive to us and not our local politics,” Oburu said, as quoted by the Star.
The brother to the former prime minister further said he looks forward to registering over 100,000 voters before the end of the exercise that started on Monday in different parts of the country.
Speaking at Bondo CDF office after holding a meeting with the aspirants of different seats, Ochanda, who was accompanied by Oburu called upon leaders to ensure that residents take part on the voter registration process as the opposition strategizes to dethrone the seating government from power.
"After [President] Uhuru Kenyatta assented the draconian [amendments to the] election laws, we decided not to vent our anger on the streets but to embark on a vigorous voter registration campaign,” he said.
