With the run-up to the Kabete parliamentary by-election, aspirants are adopting new ways of luring voters to their camp.
Peter Kariuki, popularly known as OCPD, on Monday, visited Kingeero primary school where he met with the pupils and 'sold' his name to them.
“When you go home today, whom will you tell your parents you want to be your next MP?” he asked the schoolchildren.
To which the children replied in unison, “OCPD”.
Kariuki was also in the school to see the progress in the plastering of three classes which he has fully funded in support of education in the area.
He also promised to plaster all the other classes in the school, a project he began not because of the elections but a way of giving back to his home community.
“I grew up in Kabete and attended nursery school here, and when I visited the school some time back, I decided to invest my money in restoring the school in one way or another,” said Kariuki.
He promised to ensure the security of Kabete was tight when elected as the area MP.
Kariuki served as an Officer in Charge of Police Division (OCPD) in different places in the country in his formative years.
The Kabete by-election has attracted 24 candidates. The seat was left vacant after the brutal killing of George Muchai in the streets of Nairobi, together with his two bodyguards and driver.
