Kabete parliamentary by-election aspirant, Peter Kariuki, aka “OCPD' has called for inclusiveness in the Kabete preliminary nominations slated for March 19.
Speaking at Kirangari Location, Kabete Sub County during a political campaign, Kariuki said that all gaps that would lead to undemocratic nominations and pushing disadvantaged aspirant out of the tight race should be sealed to ensure credible elections.
“Corruption and rigging in the nominations in Kabete by-election will not be tolerated,” said Kariuki.
Kariuki, a former OCPD, urged the Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) to conduct a free, fair and peaceful by-election.
“JAP should ensure that the by-elections are conducted in peaceful manner and devoid of election irregularities,” said Kariuki.
The former police officer said that his primary objectives is to deal with rising cases of insecurities, infrastructure projects and empowering youth and women and persons with disabilities .
“My first task after being elected will be empowering these groups so as to enhance their participation in economic activities,” said Kariuki.
The green aspirant who is vying the seat on JAP also warned the issuance of direct nominations to candidate who is favoured by the local leaders.
“Fair and credible elections requires each aspirant to hunt for votes without political influence,” said Kariuki.
The National Alliance (TNA) Kiambu branch coordinator Gladys Chania has said the party will conduct the nominations transparently.
