Speaking in his office on Wednesday Mburukua said assault, especially on women, is on the rise.

“Men have been attacking and injuries their wives in the region and several cases are still pending in my office. Police are investigating over 10 assault claims before the suspects can be arrested and be taken to court So far we have issued a warrant of arrest to about 5 suspects who assaulted their wives,” he said.

The OCPD urged men to solve their marital problem between them and the wives to avoid being on the wrong side of the law.

“No one is above the law and men should not take advantage of their wives weakness to attack them. Police will not tolerate such people to walk free because the best place they belong in jail,” he noted.

He called on local chiefs and Nyumba Kumi officials not to defend assault suspects by solving assault cases locally.

"Assault cases should be reported to police for legal action to be taken and send a warning to anyone with an intention to assault his wife,” added Mburukua.
