Thika OCPD Erastus Muthamia has advised bodaboda and tuktuk operators in the area to demand information from their customers before ferrying them to their destinations.

The OCPD notes that this would help in tracking criminal gangs who take advantage of the bodaboda’s to advance their criminal activities.

Mr Muthamia states that some people are disguising as customers when in real sense they are criminals.

Addressing members of the public at Thika town on Monday, Muthamia urged operators to get basic information like customers’ name, ID and location before ferrying them.

“Bodaboda and tuktuk operators must be vigilant and get to know the kind of people they are carrying on their bikes for their own security and that of others,” he said.

Muthamia also asked boda boda riders to work with the police in taming crime. He observed that some criminals could be using bodaboda’s to carry out their activities.

The OCPD warned that police will act tough on people found to be colluding with criminals.

He asked residents to be responsible and report any person associating with or aiding crime in the area.

Meanwhile, Muthamia has assured residents of security ahead of the New Year. The OCPD said that proper mechanism have been put in place to ensure security of locals.
