Residents of Yatta sub-county now want Yatta OCPD Edward Changach to control the vehicles ferrying miraa in Thika-Garissa road due to the numerous accidents they have been causing.

Speaking in Matuu town Chamber of commerce secretary for Yatta Patrick Kyalo Nzioka said that these vehicles ferrying miraa have claimed many lives in hit and run accidents on the road. 

Nzioka urged the OCPD to ensure these vehicles that are flouting traffic rules the drivers are prosecuted. 

Nzioka wondered whether these vehicles pass at police checkpoints since they have become a threat to pedestrians and other road users.

"Vehicles ferrying Miraa plying along Thika-Garissa road have been our misfortune of late as we have watched people lose their lives after being hit by them," said Nzioka. 

"We would wish the OCPD to ensure these vehicles follow traffic rules to the latter in a bid to curb day to day accidents happening on this road," he added. 

This is after last week two people lost their lives after being knocked down by a miraa ferrying vehicle.
