Eldoret West OCPD Samuel Mutunga has urged Uasin Gishu County Assembly to pass by-laws that will streamline boda boda business at night.

He said boda boda business at night has affected police operation against criminals who terrorise residents.

"I want to call upon MCAs to pass legislation that will bar boda boda operators from conducting their businesses at night," he said after holding a public baraza at Baharini, Eldoret town, Thursday.

"It has been difficult for us to differentiate between criminals and boda boda operators since they both use motorcycles," he added.

Mutunga called upon politicians to maintain peaceful campaigns before, during and after October 26 presidential election.

However, Uasin Gishu County Assembly leader of majority Josephat Lowoi said the county assembly had passed transport bill barring boda boda operators from working past 11pm.

"It now the mandate of the police to enforce the law since we did our part," said Lowoi.
